to towson. 11 minutes on outer loop from 795 down to 95. megan over to you. >>> this morning authorities are trying to figure out what caused a 3-car accident on 295. if you were anywhere near the area you may have heard how bad it was. the crash caused a backup yesterday afternoon on northbound 295 near route 32. three people were taken to shock trauma with nonlife- threatening injuries. still no word on their current condition or the cause of the crash. but once we find out, we will let you know. >>> a police officer is on routine leave after shooting and killing a man this happened early yesterday morning outside a shell gas station along edmonton near north bend road in baltimore county. police say the officer was making a routine patrol when he noticed a suspicious man behind the shell station. the officer asked the man to come out behind the business and that's when the swigs situation -- situation escalated. >> that man refused produced a knife and pointed it at the officer. the officer attempted to use his taser, but it was ineffective. the officer then ordered the man to drop th
's christmas eve morning. i am megan pringle. charley has the day off but lynette charles is here and a lot of people are heading out to the malls or somewhere downtown in the community and they want to know how warm do they have to dress? >> and i am one of those people i hate to say. we all need to bundle up this morning. the temperatures are cold. and i say bundle up because once you get to the mall you will want to take off the coat when you roll up your sleeves to do the last-minute shopping. 30 in glenelg millersville at 27 and pylesville at 29. and as we check out maryland's most powerful radar, we are dry for right now. i have all five sweeps on and we are scanning the skies. throughout the day we will have light rain push in and we could see snow mainly off toward the north and west. so this is how to plan your day accordingly. we have the planner here and temperatures by 8:00 coming in at 31. and still dry as we go into the lunchtime it's quite brisk out there. 39 degrees the high temperature for today is 40 degrees. and coming in below average because we should be at 43 degrees f

's. although the -- although the fog is bag in some areas it's dense patchy fog across the area. noid the widespread like -- it's not widespread like yesterday but you need to take it easy put a lot of distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. and have the low beams on n terms of wet weather, we are not seeing it. yesterday morning, we got the rain even this morning we had the rain and things are diminishing. we only will scan the skies for today and once again, temperatures are going to be above average. we are looking at upper 40s in elkton to bel air. let's check the traffic with lauren cook. >> reporter: good morning. as you mentioned, we are dealing with areas of dense fog so be careful. t

to 83. no concerns now on the west side of the wealthway -- on the beltway. down to 95. megan and charley, over to you. >> crime that shocked and angered many people a tourist beaten and robbed in baltimore. it was on st. patrick's day as the cameras were rolling. one of the attackers is due in court. and we have more live with the story. what is expected to happen today? >> that beating happened here on the steps of mitchell courthouse the place where shanti baldwin will be in court for sentencing. she and three others took place in a robbery and beating. and it was videotaped and went viral on line. police say that baldwin and others beat up a tourist and left him unconscious s a woman is beating the victim with a shoe. a man is beaten and stripped of clothing. people were so enraged by this that the officers received tips to identify the suspect and bring him into custody. three other people were arrested and they have been sentenced. baldwin will be sentenced at 9:30 for that beating on st. patrick's day. she could face three years in prison. sherrie johnson, abc 2 news. >
morning i am megan pringle. police are searching for the person who shot an off-duty police officer in overlea near dale and kenwood avenues. police say the officer was driving just after 3 on sunday morning when he came across a large group blocking the road e stopped and asked somebody to move so he could get through and that's when a man came out of the group and fired several shots into the officer's car. the officer was shot twice and his name has not been released. county police want to hear from you if you have information here's the number to call. 410-307-2020. >>> and a 19-year-old is recovering afterring shot in middle river. teen was shot in the 100 block of kingston road not far from eastern avenue and martin boulvard. baltimore county police are not releasing information right now about a possible shooter. police say that the victim is expected to survive. time for a check on your weather with meteorologist lynette charles. >> all right. we are talking about a dense fog advisory until 9. you can see why. look at manchester right now. plenty of fog across the area. and
